Pastor Stephanie graduated from Augsburg College in Minnesota with a degree in Youth and Family Ministry in 2001. She then went to seminary at Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago (LSTC) to receive her Masters in Divinity in 2005. From 2002 to 2005, Pastor Stephanie worked as an elementary school teacher in Chicago.
Pastor Stephanie’s first call was with ELCA’s Global Mission as a pastor in Costa Rica. She served five rural congregations located in the banana plantations. She met her husband, Pastor Jorge Espinoza, while working for the Lutheran Church in Costa Rica. They are expecting their first baby this year!
Pastor Stephanie has been at New Hope since 2009. She is fluent in both Spanish and English. She loves to travel and to write. She has developed numerous curriculums for Augsburg Fortress for children’s and youth ministries.

Pastor Jorge is from Chinandega, Nicaragua. He is from a large family of 13 children. Pastor Jorge was in a religious order in the Roman Catholic Church for over 13 years, doing mission work throughout Central America. He left the Catholic Church to be a Lutheran pastor in Costa Rica, where he served two rural congregations. He has a brother that is a Lutheran pastor in Ohio, another brother that is a Roman Catholic priest in Nicaragua, and two sisters who are Roman Catholic nuns in Spain and Mexico.
Pastor Jorge is in the TEEM process to become ordained in the ELCA. He is studying hard to finish his required classes, while serving New Hope as our Assistant Pastor and St. Andrews Lutheran Church in West Chicago as Pastor of Hispanic Ministries.

Martin Suarez is from Columbia and is bilingual in both English and Spanish. He holds a Bachelor in Music Education from the Colombian Adventist University and a Masters degree in Music-Piano Performance from University of Redlands, CA. Currently, Martin owns Martin Music Studios, a Project-Digital Recording Studio in Bolingbrook IL. Besides working at New Hope, he is a piano recitalist, a free-lance musician, and he is a college piano instructor at College of DuPage in Glen Ellyn, IL.

The Worship & Music Committee is responsible for enhancing our worship life at New Hope from paraments and banners to beautiful music. They are to assist the pastor and musicians in our worship space and services.

The Education Committee provides, conducts, and promotes educational opportunities for all people in our congregation. Their main tasks are organizing Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation, Youth Group, and Adult Education. The Education Committee in 2009 put together a great line up of educational opportunities for adults. In 2010, this committee is looking for someone to serve as coordinator of youth events.

The Outreach committee works to extend Christian compassion, help, and care for people outside of our congregation. They help coordinate Hesed House, the garage sale, sponsoring children through Compassion International, and mission trips.
